30th May-2024, Current Affairs:

• IIT Madras’ startup, Agnikul Cosmos, has launched the world’s first rocket with a single-piece three-dimensional (3D) printed engine. The rocket Agnibaan SOrTeD (SubOrbital Technological Demonstrator) is also India’s first semi-cryogenic engine-powered rocket launch that was completely designed and manufactured indigenously. It was also launched from India’s first privately developed launchpad called ‘Dhanush’ established by Agnikul at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
• Campaigning for the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections end today. Voting will be held on June 1 in 57 parliamentary constituencies spread over seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
• Hindi Journalism Day (Hindi Patrakarita Diwas) is observed today. The journey of Hindi journalism began on May 30, 1826, with the publication of the first Hindi newspaper, ‘Udant Martand,’ started by Pt. Jugal Kishore Shukla.
• Goa Statehood Day is celebrated today.

• Major Radhika Sen, who served with the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Democratic Republic of Congo, will be honoured with the prestigious 2023 Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award. The UN award is an acknowledgement of her remarkable efforts and advocacy for the rights of women and girls during her tenure as a peacekeeper.
• A weather office in Delhi has recorded the highest-ever temperature the country has experienced at 52.3 degree Celsius today. The temperature was more than nine degrees higher than expected, the second day of record-breaking heat, and pushed up the mercury by more than degree from the 2002 record of 49.2 degree Celsius.
• Indian mountaineer Satyadeep Gupta has scripted history by becoming the first person to scale Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse twice in one season. He also set another record by being the first Indian to traverse from Mt. Everest to Mt. Lhotse in 11 hours and 15 minutes.
• In Arm Wrestling, the Indian contingent has clinched a total of seven medals including one gold and six bronze at the Asian Championship, 2024 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
• India successfully test-fired an air-surface anti-radiation missile from a Su-30MKI fighter jet. The RudraM-II anti-radiation supersonic missile is developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

27th May-2024, Current Affairs:

• Kolkata Knight Riders beat SunRisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the final of IPL 2024 to clinch their third IPL title. Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who finished 3rd and 4th in the points table respectively. RCB's Virat Kohli won the Orange Cap while the Purple Cap went to Punjab Kings pacer Harshal Patel.
• Dipa Karmakar made history on Sunday by winning India's first gold medal at the Asian Championships. Dipa won the women's vault final with an outstanding total score of 13.566.
• Filmmaker Payal Kapadia made history as the first Indian to win the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival for 'All We Imagine As Light.' It's the first Indian film in over thirty years to compete at Cannes.

25th May-2024, Current Affairs:

• Actor Anasuya Sengupta has become the first Indian to win the Best Actress award at the Un Certain Regard segment of the Cannes Film Festival. She received the award for her role in the film 'Shameless,' directed by Bulgarian filmmaker Constantin Bojanov.
• Voting is conducted for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections. In this phase polling is being held in 58 Parliamentary Constituencies spread over six States and two Union Territories.

24th May-2024, Current Affairs:

• India's 'Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know' won the first prize of La Cinef at Cannes 2024. Indian filmmaker Mansi Maheshwari's 'Bunnyhood' won the third prize.
• German author Jenny Erpenbeck and translator Michael Hofmann won the International Booker Prize for fiction Tuesday for “Kairos,” the story of a tangled love affair during the final years of East Germany’s existence.
• India's Kaamya Karthikeyan has become the youngest Indian to scale Mt. Everest - 8849 meters - from the Nepal side. She is also the second youngest in the world to climb the Everest.

• Buddha Purnima, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha, is being celebrated in different parts of the country today.
• In Para Athletics, India’s Sachin Sarjerao Khilari clinched the gold medal in the men’s shot put at the World Para Athletics Championship in Kobe, Japan.
• Atalanta Bergamo are the winners of the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League after defeating Leverkusen by 3-0.

• Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister died when their helicopter crashed as it was crossing mountain terrain in heavy fog. Mohammad Mokhber, Iran's First Vice President is appointed as interim president following the death of Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash.
• Fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections held today. Forty-nine Parliamentary Constituencies spread over six States and two Union Territories are being covered in this phase.
• French Open 2024 tennis tournament will begin today at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris. India’s star player Sumit Nagal secured his place in the main draw of the men’s singles. He is the first Indian male player to qualify for the French Open main draw since Prajnesh Gunneswaran in 2019.
• Taiwan's Lai Ching-te was sworn in as president of the democratic island.

15th May-2024, Current Affairs:

• Singapore’s deputy leader Lawrence Wong is set to be sworn in as the nation’s fourth Prime Minister today.
• The first set of citizenship certificates after notification of Citizenship (Amendment) Rules 2024 were issued today. Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla handed over citizenship certificates to 14 applicants in New Delhi.
• Meryl Streep received an honorary Palme d’Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Also Greta Gerwig becomes the first American female filmmaker to serve as president of the Cannes jury, which will decide the festival’s top award, the Palme d’Or.

• The 77th Cannes Film Festival will begin today at Cannes in France.
• India and Iran signed the long-term contract for the operation of the Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar.
• India’s headline retail inflation stayed largely unchanged at 4.83 percent in April, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation today.

13th May-2024, Current Affairs:

• The Central Board of Secondary Education has released the results for CBSE 12 board examinations. A total of 87.98 per cent of students have cleared the CBSE Class 12 board exams, registering a pass percentage increase of 0.65 since last year.
• Voters in 96 constituencies across nine states and one Union Territory voted in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha election today. About 62.31% voter turnout was recorded as of 5 p.m. across the 96 constituencies in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). Andhra Pradesh and Odisha will also pick their next governments in simultaneous election.

• Polling concluded today for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in ninety three Parliamentary Constituencies spread over ten States and one Union Territory. Over 60 percent voter turn out was recorded in the this phase till 5 PM.
• Vladimir Putin was sworn in for a new six-year term as Russia’s President today at a ceremony inside the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow.

5th May-2024, Current Affairs:

• Campaigning for the third phase of Lok Sabha Elections end today. Voting in this phase will be held in 93 Constituencies on 7th May spread over 10 states and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
• Seventy-five international visitors from Election Management Bodies of twenty-three countries have arrived in India to witness the Lok Sabha elections.

• The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has announced that India will host the prestigious 2025 BWF World Junior Championships at the National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati.
• The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) tested a next-generation torpedo release system aimed at boosting the Navy’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
